Ashley McDonald

I am the mother of two children aged 6 and 3. I have the Birthlight Yoga for Maternity Health Professionals Diploma. I have enjoyed the practice of yoga for nearly 20 years and never did I learn more about myself as a yoga practitioner than I did when I was pregnant with my second child and began Birthlight yoga classes in Cambridge. Through Birthlight practice and through my training I’ve gained an awareness of how unique we are in our own practice; each body and mind beautifully different. I am constantly learning more about how to feel better through stretching and movement.

As a birth and postnatal doula I’ve had the honour of witnessing how yoga can benefit mothers and their families throughout pregnancy, birth and the postnatal period. I believe Birthlight classes work to prepare mothers both physically and mentally for the leap into motherhood. And the best bit of any Birthlight class is coming together, learning from each other and having fun, not to mention a bit of time to yourself for relaxation!

I love teaching Birthlight antenatal yoga. It is a joy to do the work I do, supporting mothers and families. My aim is to create a calm environment in which women can come together to learn and share, move, relax, connect with their baby and feel supported as they journey towards motherhood.
