Pre-conception and fertility yoga

Joyful BabiesFertility Yoga, Perinatal Yoga

We all expect to conceive easily. But, all to often, that dream is shattered. Birthlight Fertility Yoga offers powerful support for all women trying to get pregnant (whether they are having difficulties or not), helping them to prepare well in body and in mind and thus giving them their best possible chance of an easy, healthy and problem-free conception – with or without medical assistance. But fertility yoga’s benefits go beyond helping to overcome health issues that may be effecting conception and to promote an optimum state of fertile good health. Equally importantly, it helps women cope better with the emotional turmoil that infertility can cause and to minimize negative effects of their fertility problems on their everyday life.

Tiffany, a certified Birthlight Fertility Yoga and Ante-natal Yoga teacher and part of the Joyful Babies’ family of teachers, runs a small, supportive weekly fertility yoga group in Cambridge. The sessions focus on nurturing and empowering practices to promote endocrine balance, establish an optimum flow of blood to the pelvis and gently bring harmony to the body’s natural rhythms. Tiffany – who knows from her own four years of personal experience the pain, the stress, the frustration and the sense of isolation of being unable to conceive – emphasizes practices that draw the body and mind into a deeply relaxed healing state that has numerous stress-busting, fertility-boosting physiological benefits. It is in this quiet space that women have the chance to reconnect with themselves and access their deepest creative resources, and – using breathing exercises and guided imagery practices to help overcome limiting beliefs and fears – transform the extraordinary power of the unconscious mind from a block to fertility into their greatest ally in nurturing a fertile state.

These weekly yoga sessions are a safe haven for the women in the group, an unjudgemental space where they can support and be supported, where they are empowered by discovering they are not alone and by sharing with other women on their own fertility journey who, for once, really understand where they are coming from.

Book Birthlight Fertility Yoga classes with Joyful Babies.  For maximum benefit, Tiffany recommends that these yoga sessions form part of a broader commitment by both partners to mind-body preparation for conception, ideally for a minimum of three months.
